Hi. I'm Cindy Sallis.

I want to be your next  County Commissioner in District  1.

     I am a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a scholar, a Christian conservative, and so many things in between. I represent so many areas of Duplin County. I have a great love for our country, was raised by a Marine, and am married to a retired Marine. I have a Master's in Education, Mental Health Counseling at Seton Hall University. I have a background in accounting, paralegal work, non-profits, mentoring mentors, teaching English as a second language, assisting the homeless, assisting others with grant writing, and prison ministry. My first official job as a teenager was picking grapes in the fields at the crack of dawn. My parents raised chickens, our neighbors raised cows, hogs, and chickens. I know the value of hard work. I am greatly concerned about the state of our nation, inflation we all are forced to deal with every time we buy groceries, the struggles of our youth surrounded by so many temptations including an influx of highly dangerous drugs, and our struggling farmers and business owners.

     I have spent years in the background supporting servant-minded elected officials but never planned to run for office myself. I have decided supporting others in office is not enough, but it is time for me personally to roll up my sleeves and become a more proactive part of the solutions and teamwork that is needed to build community. I believe elected officials must act in the best interests of the community they serve, to learn its specific unique needs, to be approachable and transparent, and to listen. I am determined to approach the Commissioner's role as a public servant to helpfully mediate common-sense solutions, changes where needed, and growth for our County.
